On December 12, 2023, we celebrated the official launch of The Retreat, our residential trauma treatment center for women, located in beautiful Rancho Santa Fe, California. World-renowned author, trauma expert, and speaker, Dr. Gabor Mate discussed the lifelong impacts of trauma on every aspect of our lives, and his newest book, The Myth of Normal; Trauma, Illness, and Healing in a Toxic Culture. This event was an unmissable opportunity utilized to reignite the passion of an individual for this field and the clients they work with.
We had the privilege of having an intimate conversation with our guest speaker, Dr. Gabor Mate discussing trauma in all its forms, how it affects lives deeply, and how we can begin to start to heal it. During the presentation, there was a book signing and an opportunity to meet the author!
Dr. Gabor Mate was able to connect with our shared mission of healing addiction and trauma. As Dr. Gabor Mate stated, “Trauma is perhaps the most avoided, ignored, belittled, denied, misunderstood, and untreated cause of human suffering.”

Located in a beautiful spa resort-like setting, it features 6 private suites, with full ensuite bathrooms included! Our clinical team provides evidence-based mental health and trauma modalities and we offer a daily schedule of holistic modalities, body treatments, as well as, nutritious and delicious plant-based foods to fully heal the mind, body, and soul.
As Dr. Gabor Mate stated, “Trauma is not what happened to you, it’s what happened inside you because of what happened to you.” Even though we cannot change the past, we can change the future by healing the wounds that are caused by traumatic circumstances from the past.
